When it rains- it POURS!

The last couple of weeks have been very trying to say the least. Small and big frustrations. A few of them go as follows: our car died (we thought it was the battery but putting in a new one didn't help), Spencer's $300 phone died (it's not the battery), Spencer got a ticket this morning (and we got flashed driving through Phoenix a couple of weeks ago), our "dream" rental home got snatched from our fingers when we went to go sign the lease after it had sat vacant for 5 months, and there are a number of other things we are dealing with that will go unsaid here. Now we have to be out of student housing with in just a few days and can't afford any place that I would call livable.

As I have thought about and been frustrated over these things that last few days I have been so grateful that the most important things in my life have remained unchanged. I have a wonderful husband and two beautiful children and we all have our health. What a blessing! So even though I may have few worldly things that I have to deal with right now thankfully the most important things remain the same.

We have had some trying times in our Family as well. My Dad died in December and we found out a week ago that our Baby isn't going to survive. It has been tough, but the Spirit always manages to carry you through - especially when you feel like you just can't handle anymore.

Good luck with everything, we will remember to keep you in our thoughts and prayers : )

I always say that the bigger the trial the bigger the blessings. We have had such hard times as well these last several weeks. But just yesterday, things began looking a little better. Heavenly Father knows I have the faith, I think he is just testing my patience. HAHA!:)

Your family IS the most important thing! We love you!!

I'm so sorry to hear the house didn't work out. I know something will work out though and like you said there is still good things to be grateful for.

I don't mean to sound trite, but for me music can be such a mood lifter. The problems don't go away, but it does help me to cope with them better. One of my favorite songs in times like these is "You Are Loved (Don't Give Up)" sung by Josh Groban on his album "Awake". The lyrics are great, but their real power is hearing them sung by Mr. Groban and with the music.

Here are the lyrics:

Don't give up
It's just the weight of the world
When your heart's heavy
I, I will lift it for you
Don't give up
Because you want to be heard
If silence keeps you
I, I will break it for you
Everybody wants to be understood
Well I can hear you
Everybody wants to be loved
Don't give up
Because you are loved
Don't give up
It's just the hurt that you hide
When you're lost inside
I, I'll be there to find you
Don't give up
Because you want to burn bright
If darkness blinds you
I, I will shine to guide you
Everybody wants to be understood
Well I can hear you
Everybody wants to be loved
Don't give up
Because you are loved
You are loved
Aaaah
Don't give up
Its just the weight of the world (You are loved)
Dont give up
Everyone needs to be heard (Dont give up)
You are loved (You are loved - Dont give up)

Sis, you and your whole family are loved so much and He who is love can hear you. You will survive this.

Love ya' sis!

I am trying to find the words to say to make you feel better but as soon as I think of something I have a counter argument for it. So needless to say the only genuine thing that I think that matters is that I love and your family and truly wish you the best. Take a deep breath and vent as much as you need to.

Hey Carolee!
I found your blog through Emilee Pini's. I hope you don't mind me reading it. I enjoyed what you said that the most important things remain the same in your life. I am sorry to hear about your trying times. If there is anything I can do, let me know.

Wow, you got such great advice from so many who love you. I cant add to the advice, although I agree with so many of the things said, but I can testify of trials. Heavens knows my life has been jam packed of them the last year or so... It always works out some way, I'm excited to hear how everything works out for you guys, you must post when things settle down and how it all worked out. Know that you are loved by so many, including me!!! I so miss seeing you and talking to you but I love the blog thing, better than nothing! Good Luck with everything... thats all I can say because I feel the same way about my own personal trials, good luck!

You have done hard things, and will get throught this hard thing. If there is ANYTHING I know about Spencer, it is that he will always find a way to make it work, and make it work well. I love you FOUR and will keep you in my prayers - I really mean it.

Love,

Jen

I'm so sorry you have been having a hard time! It does seem to all POUR down at once sometimes. The title of your post has been the theme of our past few weeks as well. Two days after Christmas while we were moving into a different house, our 3-year-old daughter tripped on some pillows and broke her femur. She has almost a full-body cast for 8 weeks and is completely immobile. Our car died a few days ago too and etc. etc. etc. It definitely helps during these times to think about our blessings and what we are truly grateful for.

Good luck to you guys!

Hey, can I get your email address so I can invite you to my blog? Mine is bkcolvin@gmail.com. Thanks!
